A 19th century heir to an Irish industrial dynasty, abused as a
child and considered an orphan, Sean McChesney-Dalton runs away
from his abusive family to become a sailor on the merchant ship
'Disaster'.
Returning to Ireland as a young man to deal with a family crisis
created by his Uncle Liam, Sean’s patriarch grandfather Gavin
McChesney becomes aware of the years of abuse by Liam and pledges
to make amends by teaching Sean the skills needed to co-manage the
family corporate empire. Gavin establishes Sean in his will as an
equal heir to his Uncle Liam.
Sean must overcome a series of life-altering challenges upon the
death of his grandfather including arrest and imprisonment by the
Irish constabulary after Liam arranges a trumped up murder charge.
The young adventurer escapes during a jailbreak orchestrated by a
woman lover and friends associated with the (IRA, Irish Republican
Army) predecessors the New Republicans. He eventually flees to
Canada aboard his former sailing ship ‘Disaster’ with additional
help from former shipmates becoming a valued assistant to the
Factor at York Factory on Hudson Bay. He marries a local native
woman and moves to Lower Fort Gary becoming the catalyst for
establishing trading posts across the Canadian prairies for the
Hudson Bay Company.
Sean’s mother Kathleen presumed dead after her brother Liam
attempted to have her killed returns to Ireland from 25-years of
existing on a Caribbean island. Married to an American shipping
firm heir, Kathleen launches a legal challenge against Liam for
control of the family industrial empire. The ensuing family
conflict leads to terrorism, murder, and random killings by an
assassin hired to protect Liam’s interests in both the family firm
and an international arms smuggling syndicate.
Sean’s success with the Hudson Bay Company leads to his selection
by a group of investors to develop the first cross border Canada
United States Great Lakes shipping firm. The cooperative turns out
to be a partnership with family of Kathleen’s new husband.
A shipping company grand opening celebration at the lake head
cities of Fort William and Port Arthur leads to Sean and his family
becoming the target of hired killers. He solicits help from the
Northwest Mounted Police to dismantle an international gun
smuggling cartel by the American shipping firm and involving
McChesney Trading supplying arms to rebels on the Canadian
prairies.
The family saga and historical adventure concludes when Sean
returns to Ireland and attempts to salvage McChesney Trading and
Kathleen’s American shipping firm while dealing with personal
situations manifested by events that happened over the years. |
